 Australian airline Qantas (ASX: QAN) has returned to profit after three years and $7 billion in statutory losses due to the pandemic’s impact on the aviation industry.  The board of law firm Slater & Gordon (ASX: SGH) has today unanimously backed a takeover offer from Sydney-based Allegro Funds that would see the suitor acquire 100 per cent of the company for $78 million. Under the off-market takeover offer, shareholders would receive 55 cents per share held, valuing the transaction at approximately $78 million based on the 141 million shares currently on issue - the majority of which are held by a consortium led by Anchorage Capital Partners.  A majority of football fans from 15 countries would support FIFA compensating migrant workers in Qatar for human rights violations during the country's preparations for the 2022 World Cup, according to a new report by Amnesty International.  A YouGov survey of more than 17,000 fans from 15 countries — 10 of them European — commissioned by Amnesty showed that 73 per cent of respondents would support the proposal while 10 per cent opposed it. More than two-thirds of respondents (67 per cent) also said their national Football Associations should speak out publicly about the human rights issues surrounding the World Cup in Qatar, in addition to calling for compensation for migrant workers.  On a cold, wet Sunday afternoon Harald Murphy set off from Perth in a bid to circumnavigate Australia in his electric car. Fourteen days and 13,550 kilometres he arrived back home. Mr Murphy and his friend Pete Petrovsky set off from Perth in opposite directions, driving Tesla Model Y's.
